Residential

Nicholas Austin has produced high quality documentation, drawings and design across a range of residential projects, drawing on a background in Building Design from RMIT with a strong focus on project-based work, forward planning and managing changing scope under deadline. His work includes the Yarrabend Boilerhouse heritage apartment redevelopment in Preston, the Preston Fire House concept, and renovation drawings, design and limited service coordination for a young couple's residence in Macleod. Other work includes converting a set of Kew house renovation drawings to Revit for council resubmission, and preliminary drawings for sustainable prefabricated disaster relief housing in Sulawesi, Indonesia, developed to convey simple, fast housing options following the earthquake and tsunami in the region.

Yarrabend Boilerhouse

Alphington, Victoria

Yarrabend Boilerhouse involved landscape documentation for a heritage apartment redevelopment in Preston. Work included detailed planting and paving plans, coordination of heritage brick feature banding, and design of shared and private rooftop terraces within a tightly constrained heritage site.

Preston Fire House

Preston, Victoria

Preston Fire House was a conceptual redesign and relocation of the existing Preston fire station. The project taught good commercial design practices whilst staying within the boundary of tight design code.
